Microsoft Widows 10 Build 1709 (Fall Creators Update)
Upgrading from earlier releases of Windows 10 (including build 1607 & 1609) to the new Fall Creators Update (build 1709) have resulted in GCK corruption. After the update, launches of GCK fail producing a generic error message; “Gene Construction Kit has stopped working”, with the only option to close the program.
To date, we do not have a resolution for this problem. All the the typical things we do to troubleshoot and fix have proved ineffective under this Windows release.
We will be working through the MS Developer network – but small companies like ours typically don’t get the fastest of responses from Microsoft.
If you require GCK for your daily use, we strongly recommend not to download and apply the Fall Creators update (build 1709) for Windows 10.
Previous Windows 10 releases (1607 & 1609) are still supported (as well as earlier Windows releases – 8, 7 & Vista).
We apologize for this inconvenience, and will update this notice as we learn more.
